Asst. district attorney attacked in her home

(WMC-TV) - An assistant district attorney, who was attacked inside her own home last week, is recovering at a hospital.
Investigators say Kate Edmands she was critically injured when she was attacked in her North Parkway home Wednesday night.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is not certain whether the assault was random, related to her job, or something else
entirely.
Edmands has been a state prosecutor for the last ten years.
"That case has been turned over to the TBI. We're no longer involved in the investigation of that," said MPD Director Toney
Armstrong.
The TBI has been asked by the Memphis Police Department and District Attorney General's Office to lead the investigation into
the attack.
The following is a statement released by Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich:
"Assistant district attorney Kate Edmands was hospitalized Thursday morning with injuries. The Memphis Police Department and
the District Attorney General's office have asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to lead the investigation into the
manner and cause of her injuries. She and her family appreciate your continued prayers and support."
